The key task of the organizational and methodological work on formation and use of IT resources is to ensure that JSC IDGC of the North-West has affordable and high-quality IT services in order to increase the efficiency of operating costs, ensure a required level of reliability of electric power transmission and distribution through effective use of resources and management of production assets on the basis of the balance of expenses, risks and asset performance.
The automation level can be assessed based on the total level of tasks used as medium (automation of key business processes).
The works have been carried out in accordance with the regulating documents, integrated in the Quality Management System.
The important stage in the activity of the Company is the approval of the Company's Strategy in the Field of Information Technologies, Automation and Telecommunications for the period until 2016. Activities of IT departments in the reporting period were based on the provisions of the Strategy.
Development of IT infrastructure
As of January 1, 2013 JSC IDGC of the North-West had 7,439 personal computers (PCs, laptops, PDAs) and 650 servers.
The key principles of CE configuration is to provide a failure-free and high-performance work of the systems used, to ensure safety and information protection, and to use the unified informational space of the Company.
Change in the CE quantitative composition and qualitative content thereof is provided in the table below:

A significant surplus of server equipment has been demonstrated as compared to the previous periods, which is first of all due to the Company's development within the operational structure and growth of centralized projects volume. Renewal and extension of CE fleet has been speeding up as compared to the previous periods.
The decrease in the quantity of servers is observed in production departments and regions of electric grids (REG) of the branches due to the increase of capacity of communication channels to REGs and increase in their quality due to the switch to a corporate fiber-optical communication line.
The key trend shown in the development of the fleet of computing technologies and server equipment is its unification. Measures, which allowed preparing of centralized purchase of computer equipment and servers within the entire Company, were implemented during the reporting period.
The switch to the unified system of the Company's IT infrastructure management on the base of Microsoft ActiveDirectory should be particularly noted.
Within the framework of implementation of the Company's Strategy in the Field of Information Technologies, Automation and Telecommunications until 2016, under the program for optimization and development of the IT infrastructure, servers, data storage systems, active network equipment are purchased and services related to information infrastructure are performed. Under the program of information safety development, audit of automated systems of technological management of the Company is conducted.
